Therapeutic Massage
Different conditions require different types of massage. Depending on what type of results you are expecting will determine what you receive.
We offer the following types of massage and body work:
Deep Tissue
Relaxation (Swedish Massage)
Therapeutic Stones (Hot and Cold)
Far-infrared with Minerals
Chair Massage
Deep Tissue
Deep tissue massage is used to release over-tight muscles, trigger points, and relieves many chronic conditions, such as frozen shoulder, back pain, neck pain, and sciatica.
It is possible for deep tissue work to leave your body sore for a few days, but the healing effects are typically well worth this temporary discomfort.
Relaxation (Swedish Massage)
Relaxation massage is very therapeutic for dealing with the stress and fatigue of every-day life. Swedish massage is the typical form of massage for invoking the relaxation response in your body.
This type of massage typically leaves you feeling very relaxed and ready to handle life’s little consequences.
If you do not suffer from any chronic physical conditions, or are not recovering from an injury, this is a good type of massage to request. Often times, even if you do have some conditions that need addressing, a relaxation massage can be a nice change to therapeutic work.
Those with fibromyalgia typically benefit immensely from relaxation massages. The touch is soft and relaxing, yet very effective at removing toxins from your tissue.
If you just want to chill out and forget about life for an hour or so, a nice relaxation massage is recommended.
Therapeutic Stones (Hot and Cold)
We use Basalt stones, which are formed from volcanic rock that has been naturally worn smooth by rivers or other bodies of moving water. These stones are dark in color and have a unique ability to hold deep heat. When strategically placed along the spine, they activate important acupressure points and prepare your spinal muscles for massage.
Hot stones enable the practitioner to release stubborn muscles without causing pain. When they are smoothed along the skin, it triggers a healing response in the body, and the effect leaves you relaxed and calm.
Marble stones are used for cold therapy, where inflammation and swelling are present. Marble maintains its temperature at 10 degrees less than its surroundings, making it perfect for cooling areas of the body where it touches.
When combined with essential oils, therapeutic stones are very effective therapy.
Far-infrared with Minerals
We use a far-infrared mineral lamp, which when heated, emits 33 minerals toward your body. The deep-penetrating far-infrared waves are identical to that generated by your body which enables them to be naturally absorbed into the tissues, along with the minerals your body lacks.
The far-infrared energy penetrates 3 ½ inches into your body, stimulating micro circulation and delivering high levels of oxygen and nutrients to injured cells. As tissue is repaired, toxins and cellular waste are eliminated as well.
Low-level Laser Light Therapy
Our low-level laser light directs a concentrated beam of energy 4 inches into the targeted area. This beam of light invokes a healing response in the body, thus increasing circulation to the injured area.
This type of therapy is directed at acupressure points that correspond with the type of injury you have. It is a great alternative to painful trigger point therapy.
Chair Massage
Chair massage is popular for those of you who don’t have a lot of time, but need some relief from tight back, neck, and arm muscles.
This type of massage is performed through clothing and typically lasts for 15 to 20 minutes.
